Dad making the most unique shelves!

I've spent quite a lot of time looking at different materials to make the shelves out of for the store. I didn't just want boring shelving; I wanted something with some character. My dad and I took a few trips out to Irvine to the Industrial Metal Supply store and I was overwhelmed with the choices. It's an entire warehouse full of the most amazing products. Here are some pictures of the almost finished product.

After welding all the metal pieces together, he cut and sanded all the wood for it.

First layer of varnish.

That looks messy.

Dad was nice enough to let me test out several different colors for the store walls on his garage. After testing four of them I am still not sold on any of them. Looks like another trip to Home Depot is in order!

Painting in the Garage with Dad

So this past Saturday I spent the day in Riverside with my dad. I went down to work on a few different projects we needed to finish up. My main goal was to paint the rad Alice in Wonderland looking table he made for me out of an old mirrored cabinet door. It came out AMAZING! We also worked on some of the shelving. Here are few pics from our fun garage day:)

Testing out different wood types and widths.

Here's my first attempt at paining. Let the fun begin..

Yes that's right I am wearing plaid pajama pants. I came to my dads fully dressed in regular clothes not realizing that I might get paint all over myself. So I had to dig deep into whats left of my sisters closet from high school and this is all I could come up with..

Sneak peak of the finished project!

Dad welding with crazy bill

So lately some of the ideas I have come to my dad with have all required lots of metal work including welding. While my dad recently bought a new machine that cuts metal, he does not have the tools necessary for welding. So for these projects he has been going down to Wild Bill's in Riverside so finish some of the metal work. Here are some great pictures taken from my Dad's first time welding! I love you Dad, you seriously rock. And did I mention that your welding mask with the neon flames is kinda of amazing!!

Dad about to light up the torch.

Going for it.

This picture is amazing. Check out those sparks! Seriously who wears a t-shirt while welding. Hello burnt arm hair:)

Dad looking pretty stoked on the whole experience.

P.S can you please check out the amazing life size cardboard image of Elvira!

Crazy Bill himself.

Store Layout

A couple of weeks ago I was at the Mix working on all the details for our fashion show and decided to check out my space and see how the construction was going. My dad and his girlfriend April met me there and we went over the layout and took a lot of measurements to make sure we have space for all the beautiful pieces of furniture we are creating! Here is a few pics from last weeks meeting. Many more to follow as I am way behind on my daily postings!

April and I in what will be my beautiful store space!

Me trying to describe to my dad where I want the register counter to be and how it will look.

Andrea and I going over details for the Fashion Show.

There is no air in phase 2 yet and it was super hot!

They are officially open so stop by and see them. Happy hour every week day from 4-6:)
